About Fiona McKechnie

Specialist Occupational Therapist, PgDip, MSc, MRCOT, MBACME

Fiona has been qualified as an Occupational Therapist since 1997. She has worked with people who have chronic fatigue and pain since 1999 in neurology, mental health, community and specialist services and charities including the National ME Centre with Professor Finlay, and Action for ME. She has worked in the Bristol NHS pain management and ME/CFS Service for 15 years and is an Advanced Clinical Practitioner  in ME/CFS specialising in mindfulness-based interventions. She also leads the team’s employment support provision. 

She has an MSc in mindfulness-based approaches and over the past 12 years she has developed a mindfulness-based programme for fatigue being published in 2023 as a book.  She has also run mindfulness-based therapy groups within mental health and cancer care and been part of North Bristol NHS staff wellbeing service. 

She has completed a ILM- 5 coaching qualification and further training in EMDR. Fiona has been involved in therapist education and has run workshops for BACME, Action for ME and Vitality360. She was a contributor and editor of BACME’s therapy guide and has written a chapter on CFS and sleep in an Occupational Therapists Guide to sleep.
