The CFS/ME service based at Golborne Clinic is a rehabilitation service aimed at adults aged 18 and over, registered with a GP in the Wigan Borough. Referrals will be accepted for ages 16-17 if no longer in full time education or if adult services are considered to best meet their needs. Referrals can be made by GPs, previous patients of the service can self-refer within 12 months of discharge.
The service offers specialist clinical assessment with a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine and Occupational Therapist to confirm a diagnosis of CFS/ME. Following diagnosis, the service provides a rehabilitation program using a self-management approach which aims to enable patients to develop the skills they require to effectively manage their CFS/ME symptoms.
