The Stockport ME/CFS Service specialises in supporting individuals, age 16 and over who are diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), and Long COVID. The service is community based.
We offer a holistic assessment, where the individual is able to identify their symptoms and the impact these have on their wellbeing. After assessment, the ME/CFS specialist clinicians will provide 6 to 8 sessions to explore Energy Management interventions, using self-help strategies. The aim is to support people living with ME/CFS better manage their symptoms.
Some individuals will be offered 1 to 1 physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or cognitive behavioural therapy or a combination. These therapies can be helpful when used as part of the holistic treatment approach to ensure that physical and mental healthcare are being supported. Therapy sessions are provided at 1 to 1 sessions in clinic, via video call, telephone or in a group setting. Individuals who struggle to leave their home or have severe symptom presentations will be offered home visit appointments.
We are a small multidisciplinary team of specialist ME/CFS Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapist, Dietitian and a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist
